Bruneau Sand Dunes

Bruneau Dunes State Park boasts the tallest single-structured sand dune in North America with a peak rising 470 feet above the surrounding desert floor.

Crazy that Idaho would have the tallest sand dune in the North America.  It is out in the midlde of no where, by Mountain Home.    I took the girls along with Diane and her kids, a few additional cousins, and my mom and dad.

We thought it would best to start off with the little one, to allow the kids to play.

I was surprised how fast the girls climbed up this one.

Gabrielle loved the sand.

The heavier you are, the more you sink, i.e. we weren't moving very fast.

From the smaller sand dune, you can see the larger one.

My girls dropped out by the time we reached the base of this large sand dune.  Diane was going to take some of her kids back so she took the girls with them while I went ahead with Autumn, Mom, and Dad.  The picture above shows how steep it is by the peak.

Mom & Dad, making their way up.

Halfway up, I had to go down and help my mom on her right side, while my dad helped her on the left side.  She had a good attitude about it when she reached the top she said, "this is just like how counselors support our prophet."  Typical for mom to say something like that.  I am proud of her for not giving up!

I love my parents!
